Fall is here at last, which means it’s time for our semiannual wine club release. We are excited to announce the release of four spectacular wines, including two in the Darow Series, our distinguished reserve tier. Wine club members will be the first to enjoy these new releases with exclusive first access and private tastings beginning later this month.
2Hawk Fall 2022 Releases
2020 Darow Series Chardonnay
In a word: decadent. Coming on the heels of the 2020 classic Chardonnay we released this past spring, our 2020 Darow Series Chardonnay is a remarkable display of our vineyard’s unique terroir and the fruit’s physiological ripeness. Deep aromas of tangerine, lemon blossom, honeycrisp apple, and peach yield to flavors of tropical fruit with notes of hazelnut, lemon zest, and coconut. Naturally balanced acidity keeps the wine focused even as the finish slowly evolves. Enjoy now through 2027.
2019 Darow Series Tempranillo
Our 2019 Darow Series Tempranillo brings elegance and finesse to the forefront. A long, cool ripening period in 2019 allowed us the opportunity to craft a wine that transcends the raw power associated with Tempranillo. Our vineyard’s Darow soil is evident in the aromas and flavors of blue and black fruit. Notes of fresh leather, olive, cherry cola, tobacco, and dried herbs lend complexity to the wine, which boasts a truly impressive texture on the palate. Ready to enjoy now, this wine has serious cellaring potential through 2035.
2021 Sauvignon Blanc
The youngest of our four releases this fall and recipient of a 92-point score from Wine Enthusiast, our 2021 Sauvignon Blanc demonstrates the remarkable resilience of our Sauvignon Blanc plantings. Despite a difficult growing season and challenging water limitations, we harvested ripe, concentrated fruit nearly two weeks earlier than our average. The resulting wine combines vivacious just-ripe fruit character with a balanced, snappy acidity. Aromas of white flowers, peach, and nectarine turn to pink grapefruit and kiwi on the palate, with a smooth, juicy texture. Enjoy now through 2024.
What’s in a name? Sometimes everything. 1.3.8: One wine, three varieties, Block 8. A true labor of love and a unique expression of our vineyard’s response to the vintage conditions, this wine combines three different varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc. All three grow in Block 8 of our estate, home to both the highest elevation and the least-forgiving soils in our vineyard. Harvested and co-fermented in the Bordeaux tradition, this wine lies at the convergence of instinct, interpretation, and deliberation. Aromas and flavors of blueberry, black raspberry, toasted graham cracker, pencil lead, and thyme gradually give way to a lengthy Bordeaux-like minerality on the finish. Enjoy now, or cellar through 2027.
Access to these new releases for our wine club members will begin on Tuesday, November 1. Our wine club members will also be able to book a private tasting, which will include a tasting of each wine custom-paired with a small bite prepared by Chef Bill Prahl. Wine club members, keep an eye on your inboxes for details on how to book your private tasting and claim your new releases.
