Spring is always an inspiring season in the vineyard, but at 2Hawk, we have another reason to celebrate spring: It’s time for our semiannual wine club release! Every May and November, members of the 2Hawk Wine Club receive exclusive first access to our latest wines. This May, we’re releasing four exquisite wines that are uniquely 2Hawk. Additionally, we will be hosting a members-only release party to mark the occasion—our first since 2019.

2Hawk Spring 2022 Releases

2020 Chardonnay

It is often said great wine is made in the vineyard, especially when Mother Nature obliges. Our 2020 Chardonnay is a prime example of this principle. Although 2020 had its own unique set of difficulties, we deliberately began the Chardonnay harvest earlier than usual in an effort to produce a restrained, delicate wine that expresses a different side of our estate vineyard’s personality. The healthy, balanced fruit underwent a shorter aging period and partial stainless-steel fermentation in order to bring a decidedly citrus fruit profile to the forefront while still allowing the terroir of our vineyard to shine through. Lemon curd and wet stone aromas give way to ripe tangerine and stone fruit on the palate, underpinned by a lengthy flintiness on the finish. This wine is ready to enjoy now through 2025.

2019 Tempranillo

Minerality turned out to be the hallmark of all our 2019 vintage wines, yet each wine expresses that sensation in its own special way. Our 2019 Tempranillo mingles ripe red plum and blueberry aromas with graphite in the background. On the palate, the rich mouthfeel and texture are underscored by flavors of red berry fruit and vanilla-tinged espresso as the wine evolves and the tannins assert themselves. The lengthy, complex finish evokes grilled bread, bittersweet chocolate, and smoked almonds. Ready to enjoy now, this wine has serious cellaring potential through 2033.

2019 Darow Series Viognier

Our 2019 Darow Series Viognier shows such depth, concentration, and complexity that it handily earns its Darow Series distinction. This wine, borne of our vision of a Rogue Valley-grown homage to Viognier’s ancestral home, Condrieu, paves the way forward for Viognier at 2Hawk. On the nose, crushed pineapple and honeysuckle emerge with hints of gingerbread and lavender. Flavors of sweet Georgia peach and roasted marshmallow unfold on the palate, while a structured finish gracefully balances the wine’s hedonistic qualities. Although enjoyable now, this wine will age gracefully and build subtle complexity through 2028.

2019 Darow Series Malbec

Our 2019 Darow Series Malbec once again showcases the minerality typical of our 2019 vintage. It opens with deep aromas of fresh black truffle, cassis, black raspberry, and crushed granite. On the palate, ripe, candied blackberries, currants, and cinnamon stand out, with background notes of violets and slate. This wine is ready to enjoy now but will benefit from decanting a few hours prior to serving. The compact structure and overall density on the finish shows the potential to cellar through 2032.

Save the Date

Our wine club members are invited to join us for an exclusive release party on Sunday, May 15. Gather with us for a complimentary tasting of the 2022 spring club wines and enjoy small bites prepared by Chef Bill Prahl and 2Hawk Chef Brian Green. In addition to the spring release wines, this wine stroll event will feature the highly anticipated 2017 Padigan Series Tempranillo.

Due to space limitations, reservations are required and limited to the member + one guest. Please allow 60–90 minutes for this experience.

Guests can make reservations by calling the tasting room or signing up online through the website. Once you are signed into your account at the website, you’ll see the “Spring Wine Club Event” option under the “Area” section.

This will be our first release party since November 2019, and we’re excited to welcome all our wine club members back to the tasting room to celebrate our new releases. Mark your calendars!
